If you’re looking for a super simple, but super tasty cake, then this guy is going to be your new best friend. It’s been one of the staples of my repertoire ever since a colleague gave me the recipe nearly a decade ago.
I’d been meaning to have a go at cooking goulash for a really long time, but when I saw a recipe online which included stout I felt inspired. Unfortunately, other than the genius idea of using beer, the recipe looked a bit rubbish. I scouted out a few more recipes online with good reviews and took what I thought to be the best elements of each. The result is the recipe I’ve included in the post below. The beer gives it a great flavour, taking the place of the red wine some recipes call for.
I suffer from the unfortunate combination of being a lover of a wide and varied number of different cuisines, whilst also being a right fussy beggar. This has led me to develop a cooking style I sometimes refer to as ‘inauthentic cuisine’. Dishes that are close to the traditional versions but with a few subtle(-ish) changes.
